Command Access ML03EL 626 12V – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Command Access ML05EU-03EL electrified mortise lock chassis used for?
This is a storeroom function electrified mortise lock chassis that mounts inside hollow metal and wood door frames. It provides electronic access control with storeroom operation - key always required from outside, free egress from inside. Compatible with Corbin Russwin ML2000 series.
2) What door thickness and backset does this mortise chassis accommodate?
Standard mortise locks fit 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" thick doors with 2-3/4" backset. Verify your door preparation matches manufacturer specifications. Check the lock template before installation to confirm proper mortise dimensions.
3) Is this lock handed or universal?
Most Command Access mortise locks are field reversible for either hand. The chassis can typically be configured during installation. Verify handing requirements with your door swing and determine if any components need field adjustment.
4) What voltage does the ML05EU-03EL electrified function require?
Electrified mortise locks typically operate on 12VDC or 24VDC. Verify the specific voltage requirements for your model. Ensure your access control system provides compatible power output and proper wire gauge for the installation distance.
5) Does this chassis include trim and cylinder?
This is chassis only - trim, cylinders, and other components sold separately. You'll need to order matching trim sets, cylinders, and any required electrical components. Check our door hardware section for compatible accessories.
6) What security grade is this mortise lock?
Command Access locks typically meet ANSI/BHMA standards for commercial applications. Verify the specific grade rating for your security requirements. Most commercial mortise locks provide Grade 1 or Grade 2 performance for institutional use.
7) How does storeroom function operate?
Storeroom function keeps the outside lever locked at all times. Entry requires key or electronic credential from outside. Inside lever always allows free egress. This function is ideal for storage rooms, electrical rooms, and other restricted access areas.
8) What door preparation is required for installation?
Standard ANSI mortise preparation required - rectangular mortise in door edge, cross bore for cylinder, and face plate mortise. Follow manufacturer's template exactly. Door must have adequate stile width and structural integrity for mortise installation.
9) How do you wire the electrified function?
Run low voltage wire through door frame and hinge side of door to the lock chassis. Use proper gauge wire for voltage drop calculations. Connect to access control panel according to manufacturer wiring diagram. Install surge protection as recommended.
10) What maintenance does this lock require?
Regular lubrication of moving parts with graphite or recommended lubricant. Check electrical connections periodically. Test electronic and manual override functions monthly. Keep mortise clear of debris and paint buildup.
11) Are there compatible alternatives to this model?
Other Corbin Russwin ML2000 series locks provide similar mounting. Check our Corbin Russwin selection for equivalent functions. Verify electrical specifications and trim compatibility when substituting models.
12) What field conditions affect electrified mortise lock performance?
Temperature extremes, humidity, and voltage fluctuations can impact electronic functions. Ensure installation environment stays within manufacturer specifications. Protect electrical connections from moisture. Consider battery backup for critical access points.
