1) Will the Dorma ITS9613 concealed closer fit a 1-3/4 inch door?
Yes, 1-3/4 inches is the minimum door thickness for the ITS9613. Below that the closer body will not fit in the door. If the doors are 2 inches or thicker and you want more spring power, the ITS9625 is the model that starts at 2 inch doors and covers spring size 2-5. The closer body itself measures 1-1/4 x 3-5/32 x 20-1/2 inches, so the mortise pocket has to take that.
2) What is the difference between the Steel Frame Mounting Kit and the Wood Frame Mounting Kit on the ITS9613?
That choice matches the kit to the frame the arm track lands in. Order the Steel Frame Mounting Kit for hollow metal or aluminum frames and the Wood Frame Mounting Kit for wood frames. Those are the only two kit options, and the closer is the same either way, so pick by frame material on the opening.
3) How heavy a door will the ITS96 concealed closer handle?
The ITS9613 is rated to 125 lbs of door. Spring force is adjustable across sizes 1 through 3, and it can be tuned with the unit already installed, so you can dial the opening force down on an accessible opening without pulling the closer back out. Heavier leaves need a different closer.

7) Will the Dorma ITS9613 hold the door open?
No. This is the non-hold-open version, so the door closes every time it is released. That is what you want on a fire rated opening or any door that has to stay latched. If you need a hold-open, do not order this configuration.
8) The ITS9613 tops out around 130 degrees. What overhead concealed closer opens further?
The ITS96 series reaches a maximum door opening of approximately 130 degrees. Where the opening has to swing further, the Sargent 269 is a Grade 1 heavy duty overhead concealed closer with 180 degree opening capability. The Norton Rixson 73 Series is a Grade 1 heavy duty center hung double acting closer, which handles doors that swing both directions. Confirm the wall or return condition allows the extra swing before specifying either.
9) The ITS9613 is rated for 125 lb doors. What concealed closer handles a heavier aluminum entrance?
The ITS9613 carries a 125 lb door weight rating and suits interior wood, hollow metal, and aluminum doors and frames. For a heavier aluminum entrance, the Norton Rixson 0608 Series is a standard duty offset hung overhead concealed closer for aluminum doors up to 200 lbs. The Norton Rixson 608 Series is a standard duty center hung overhead concealed closer for 200 lb doors, and the Norton Rixson 73 Series is a heavy duty center hung double acting closer with 250 lbs capacity. Match the hung condition of the existing frame when moving up in weight.
10) I only need to replace the closer body in an existing concealed installation. Is the ITS9613 the right part?
The ITS9613 is a complete concealed in-door closer supplied with a frame mounting kit, in steel frame and wood frame versions. If the existing concealed hardware stays in place and only the mechanism is being swapped, the CRL Jackson 20-101M-01 is a regular duty overhead concealed closer body only, non hold open at 105 degrees, and the 20-101M-03 is the same regular duty body only in a 90 degree non hold open. Body only parts assume the existing header prep and hardware are reusable, which is worth verifying at the opening before ordering.
11) Do I have to order a left hand and a right hand version of the Dorma ITS9613?
No. The ITS9613 is non-handed, so one part number works on either hand of door. That is useful if you are stocking spares for a building with openings swinging both ways.
12) Can the ITS9613 be mounted in the frame instead of the door?
Yes. All ITS96 models can be inverted so the closer body sits in the frame rather than the door leaf. That is the way out when the leaf is too thin or already full of hardware. Standard installation is concealed in the door.
13) Can I adjust the closing speed on the ITS9613 after it is installed in the door?

16) Is there a simpler no hold-open concealed closer than the ITS9613 for a light interior door?
The ITS9613 is a non hold open concealed in-door closer with cushioned limit stay, adjustable latch action, and anti-tamper protection. For a lighter interior opening where those features are not needed, the CRL Jackson 20-101M-03 is a regular duty overhead concealed closer body only with a 90 degree no hold-open function, and the 20-101M-01 is the regular duty equivalent at 105 degrees. Both stop the door at a fixed swing angle rather than reaching the roughly 130 degrees the ITS96 series allows.
