The DynaLock EMK-VON is a field-installable motorized latch pullback kit for Von Duprin
33/35 and 98/99 series exit devices. Retrofit existing mechanical exit devices to electric latch
retraction, while maintaining the UL Listing. The easy to install, robust kit comes equipped with
“Push to Set” technology, to simplify post installation adjustments.

1) Which exit devices does the DynaLock EMK-VON latch pullback kit fit?
The EMK-VON is built for Von Duprin 33/35 and 98/99 series exit devices. It converts an existing mechanical device to electric latch retraction in the field, and the conversion maintains the device's UL Listing. If your device is another series or another brand, this kit is not the part.
2) What power supply do I need to run the EMK-VON electric latch retraction kit?
A regulated 24VDC supply rated 1A or greater. The kit accepts an input range of 22 to 28 VDC, draws about 1.0A average peak during retraction, and holds at roughly 180mA. An 8 foot cable with a quick-connect lands the power supply leads on the smart module.
3) Can the EMK-VON be left energized for electric dogging during business hours?
Yes. It provides continuous-duty electric dogging, so you can hold the latches retracted all day for free entry and drop power to relatch at close. If a dogged push pad gets pulled out of position, the module auto-retracts to recover.
4) What is the Request to Exit monitor switch upgrade on the EMK-VON, and do I need it?
It is an ordering choice: the kit is available with or without the Request to Exit monitor switch upgrade. Take the RX version when the access control system has to know the push pad was used, for example to shunt a door alarm or log a legitimate egress. If the panel only needs to retract the latch and nothing monitors the pad, the kit without it is enough.
5) Do I have to replace my exit devices to add electric latch retraction, or can I retrofit?
On Von Duprin 33/35 and 98/99 devices you can retrofit. The EMK-VON is field-installable inside the device you already have, which keeps the existing trim, rods and door prep in place and avoids re-prepping the opening for a factory EL device. It is a commercial-duty electromechanical part, not a residential one.
6) How far can I run wire from the power supply to the EMK-VON kit?
Up to 500 feet using two 18 gauge conductors. That low current draw is what makes the long run possible, so a supply in a remote closet or IDF room works without upsizing wire.
7) How hard is the EMK-VON to adjust after it is installed in the exit device?
Adjustment is electronic, not mechanical shimming. Push to Set takes about 5 seconds to set the retraction, and the onboard smart module gives audible diagnostic feedback if the adjustment or the power is off. That matters on a retrofit where you are working inside a device already hung on the door.
8) What if the exit device is stiff or the door is under heavy pressure, will the motor still pull the latch?
The EMK-VON is field-switchable to a high-torque mode for exactly that case, such as a stacked or binding device or a door under stack pressure. You set it at the device, no parts swap.
