Installation & Operation

1. Review manufacturer specifications and verify door preparation requirements including door thickness up to 1-3/4", maximum weight of 300 pounds, and 1/8" minimum hinge side clearance plus standard lockside clearance.
2. For metal doors, install a 1/8" (3 mm) thick reinforcement plate along the hinge edge for proper thread engagement of the adjustment studs. Wood doors up to 200 pounds require no reinforcement.
3. Use manufacturer-provided templates to mark mounting hole locations accurately on door and frame surfaces, noting that nonstandard length hinges may require custom hole patterns.
4. Install fasteners per specifications: #10-24 x 5/8" S/S Dril-Kwik for metal frames, #1/4-20 x 3/4" 2C Dril-Kwik for metal doors, or #10-16 x 1-1/4" S/S Type AB for wood doors.
5. For frame reinforcement on doors over 200 pounds, use 16-gauge channel reinforcement as specified.
6. Test hinge operation to verify smooth function throughout the full range of motion and make final adjustments as needed. Note that this hinge is not recommended for doors with beveled edges on the hinge side.
