1) Does the AN16BN0CC starter come with heater packs, or do I have to order those separately?
Heater packs are not included with the Freedom Series AN16BN0CC starter and must be ordered separately. The starter ships with the C306 bi-metal overload relay body, and you size the heater pack to the actual full load amps of the motor you are protecting. Budget for that line item before the job, because without the heaters the overload relay will not protect anything.
2) What size motor will the B-Line AN16BN0CC NEMA Size 0 starter run?
It is a NEMA Size 0 starter rated 18 amps, good for 1 hp at 115V, 2 hp at 230V, 3 hp at 208 or 240V, and 5 hp at 480 or 600V. Anything above those horsepowers needs the next NEMA size up. The three-pole contactor works on single-phase or three-phase supply.
3) Can I use this Freedom Series starter to reverse a motor?
No. The AN16BN0CC is a non-reversing starter, so it has one contactor and gives you start and stop in one direction only. For forward and reverse you need a reversing starter, which uses two mechanically and electrically interlocked contactors.
4) Will this starter fit in my existing control enclosure?
The Freedom Series Size 0 starter measures 4.61 inches long, 4.38 inches wide and 3.31 inches high, and weighs 2.6 lb. It is built for horizontal mounting, so plan the backplate space and orientation accordingly rather than standing it on end.
5) Is the overload on the AN16BN0CC manual reset or automatic?
It uses a C306 bi-metal overload relay with reset, so after a trip someone has to go to the starter and press the reset before the motor will restart. That is what you want on most MRO and process motors, since it forces a look at why the motor overloaded instead of letting it cycle on its own.
6) Can I use a three-pole starter on a single-phase motor?
Yes. The AN16BN0CC is a three-pole device rated for single-phase as well as three-phase use. On single phase you land the two line conductors through two of the poles and size the heater pack to the motor's full load amps; the third pole is simply unused on that circuit.
