Allied Tube & Conduit CC100RKON – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size and type of conduit does the Allied Tube & Conduit CC100RKON connector take?
It's a 1 inch trade size compression connector, ordered under part number CC100RKON. Compression connectors like this one terminate EMT (thinwall) into a box or enclosure, using a compression nut and ring rather than a setscrew, so the tubing has to be 1 inch EMT. Rigid or IMC uses threaded fittings instead.
2) Can I use a 1 inch compression connector in a concrete pour?
The CC100RKON is rated for concrete usage, which is the reason to pick a compression fitting over a setscrew type on a slab or deck job. Setscrew connectors are not concrete rated and the pour can work its way into the raceway at the joint.
3) Will a zinc plated steel EMT connector hold up in a damp mechanical room or parking garage?
The body is zinc plated steel with heavy steel walls, and the plating is there to resist corrosion, so it suits interior damp locations and concrete work. For direct outdoor exposure or corrosive wash-down areas, a raintight or die-cast alternative with a stated wet-location listing is the safer specification.
4) Compression or setscrew connector for 1 inch EMT - which should a contractor order?
Setscrew is faster and cheaper for dry, accessible interior runs. Compression, like the CC100RKON, is what you want where the fitting gets buried in concrete or needs a tighter mechanical grip on the tubing, since it clamps the EMT all the way around instead of pinning it with a screw. Inspectors on slab work commonly require the compression type.
5) Does the CC100RKON come with the locknut for mounting to the box?
Compression connectors of this style ship as the connector body with its compression nut and ring, plus a locknut to secure it through the knockout. If your enclosure needs a sealing ring or an insulated throat bushing for conductor protection, order that separately.
6) I'm standardizing electrical fittings across a property - is one part number enough for all my 1 inch EMT terminations?
CC100RKON covers 1 inch EMT terminations into boxes and enclosures, and it's a single model rather than a range, so there's no handing, finish or length to pick. You'll still need separate part numbers for other trade sizes and for couplings, since this is a box connector, not a conduit-to-conduit coupling.
