Allied Tube & Conduit RCC100KON – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the RCC100KON connector require threaded conduit?
No. The Allied Tube & Conduit RCC100KON is a threadless compression connector, so it clamps onto plain-end 1 inch rigid conduit. That makes it useful for repairs and tie-ins where you cannot rotate the pipe to cut and start a thread, such as adding to an existing run or working in a tight ceiling.
2) Can the RCC100KON be used in a concrete pour?
Yes. The RCC100KON 1 inch rigid compression connector is UL Listed as concrete tight, so it can be embedded in a slab or poured wall without a separate sealing fitting.
3) What thread does the box end of this Allied compression connector use?
Sizes 1/2 inch through 2 inch, which includes the 1 inch RCC100KON, use NPSM straight thread on the threaded end; the larger fittings above 2 inch use NPT taper thread. NPSM is the usual straight machine thread for terminating into a box or enclosure with a locknut.
4) Is this a coupling or a connector?
The RCC100KON is a connector, not a coupling. One end compresses onto the plain end of 1 inch rigid conduit and the other is threaded to terminate into a box or enclosure. If you need to join two lengths of conduit to each other, a threadless coupling is the fitting to use instead.
