1) Will a 10-24 socket head cap screw thread into my existing 10-24 tapped hole or strut nut?
Yes. The JSHC1034 is a 10-24 UN thread, 24 threads per inch, so it mates with any standard 10-24 tapped hole, coupling, or channel nut. Thread length available is 3/4 inch overall screw length.
2) How much counterbore clearance does a 10-24 socket head cap screw need?
Size the counterbore off the head: the head measures 0.303 to 0.312 inch across and 0.185 to 0.190 inch high. That's the whole point of a socket head over a hex head cap screw, it needs far less surface area or counterbore because it's wrenched from the inside.
3) Is a socket head cap screw stronger than a Grade 5 or Grade 8 hex bolt the same size?
