Both openings are female pipe thread (FPT), cut to ASME B1.20.1, which is standard NPT taper thread. So it threads onto male-threaded pipe nipples or MIP fittings on both sides. There is no socket or press end here, it is a straight female-to-female threaded reducing elbow.

For potable service, check your local code and any lead-free requirement for the jurisdiction before installing, since that is governed by the AHJ rather than the fitting dimensions.
