Metallics KOB50 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is a plastic knockout bushing like the KOB50 actually used for?
It snaps into an unused or oversized knockout to line the hole, so conductors passing through the sheet metal edge are not cut or abraded. Electricians also use them to close off and finish a knockout that has been opened. The KOB50 covers the 1/2 inch size.
2) Is the Metallics KOB50 plastic or metal?
Plastic. That makes it non-conductive, which is why it is used as a liner where wires pass through a metal knockout, but it is not a grounding or bonding fitting and it is not a substitute for a metal conduit connector on a raceway run.
3) What part number do I order for the 1/2 inch Metallics knockout bushing?
Order Metallics KOB50. That is the single model covering the 1/2 inch plastic knockout bushing, so there is no finish or material option to specify with it.
