Metallics CTTR12 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Metallics CTTR12 cable tie reusable, or is it a one-time-use tie?
The CTTR12 is a releasable tie, so the pawl can be disengaged and the tie opened and re-tensioned instead of being cut off. That is what you want on bundles you expect to open again, like a panel wire harness you add circuits to or temporary cable runs during rough-in. If the bundle is permanent and you never want it tampered with, a standard non-releasable tie is the better choice.
2) What material and color is the Metallics CTTR12 tie, and is it suitable for outdoor or sunlight exposure?
Natural nylon, which is the uncolored, translucent-white version. Natural nylon ties are intended for indoor and protected locations. For exposed outdoor runs or anywhere in direct sunlight, specify a black UV-stabilized tie instead, since natural nylon is not the UV-resistant grade.
3) What part number do I order for the Metallics 12 inch releasable cable tie?
Order Metallics CTTR12. That is the manufacturer part number for the 12 inch releasable natural nylon tie, and it is the only configuration under that number, so there is no length, color, or pack variant to choose on the order line.
