Blackburn 3844 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What pipe sizes does the Blackburn 3844 ground clamp fit?
The Blackburn 3844 is sized for 1/2 inch through 1 inch pipe, so it covers the common water pipe and rod diameters you hit on a residential or light commercial grounding electrode connection. Anything larger than 1 inch needs a bigger clamp body.
2) Can I use the Blackburn 3844 clamp on a buried or direct-earth grounding connection?
The 3844 is a copper pipe ground clamp with no insulation on the body. Whether it can go in earth or concrete depends on the direct-burial marking on the part itself, so check the stamping on the clamp before you bury a connection. For an above-grade water pipe bond at the meter or the first five feet of the service entrance pipe, it is the straightforward choice.
3) Are Blackburn 3844 ground clamps sold individually or in a box?
They sell each, one clamp per unit, so you can order the exact count a job needs instead of buying a carton for a single service bond.
