Metallics HG14 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size hole does the Metallics HG14 vinyl grommet fit?
The HG14 is a 1/4 x 9/16 vinyl hole grommet, so it seats in a 9/16 inch hole and gives a 1/4 inch inside opening for the wire or cable passing through.
2) What is a vinyl hole grommet used for in electrical work?
It lines a drilled or punched hole in sheet metal, an enclosure wall, or a panel so conductors passing through are not chafed by the raw edge. The HG14 is the 1/4 x 9/16 size, meaning it drops into a 9/16 inch hole and protects wire running through a 1/4 inch opening.
3) Is the Metallics HG14 grommet metal or plastic?
Vinyl. It is a flexible non-metallic grommet, so it insulates the conductor from the metal edge rather than just rounding it off like a metal bushing would.
4) Do I order the Metallics HG14 by a different part number for a larger hole?
HG14 is the single model for the 1/4 x 9/16 size; there are no size or color options under it. For a different hole diameter you need a different grommet part number in the HG series.
