Metallics 306MS4 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size hole does the Metallics 306MS4 multispur bit cut?
The 306MS4 is a 2-9/16 inch sawtooth multispur bit, so it bores a 2-9/16 inch diameter hole in wood. That is the size commonly used for recessed and cored openings in timber, so if your layout calls for a different diameter you want a different bit in the multispur range rather than this one.
2) Is the Metallics 306MS4 bit for wood or for metal?
Wood. The 306MS4 is a sawtooth multispur wood boring bit. The sawtooth rim shears the fibers ahead of the cut for a clean 2-9/16 inch bore in lumber, plywood and door stiles. Don't run it in steel, masonry or fiber cement; use a hole saw or carbide cutter rated for those materials.
3) What part number do I order for the 2-9/16 inch Metallics sawtooth multispur bit?
Order Metallics manufacturer part number 306MS4. That is the single model for the 2-9/16 inch sawtooth multispur wood bit, so there are no size or finish options to specify with it.
