Thomas & Betts 1465 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Thomas & Betts 1465 bushing made of?
Malleable iron. That matters for MRO and industrial work because it stands up to knocks in exposed conduit runs better than plastic bushings, and it is the usual body material where a threaded iron fitting has to match rigid conduit.
2) What is a capped bushing actually for on a conduit run?
A capped bushing closes off the end of a threaded conduit stub or unused fitting opening, keeping dirt and moisture out while protecting the thread for later use. The 1465 is the 2 inch version, so it caps a 2 inch rigid conduit end. If you need an open bushing to protect conductors pulling through, that is a different part; this one is closed.
3) Is the Thomas & Betts 1465 the right part number to order for a 2 inch capped bushing?
Yes. Order by manufacturer part number 1465, Thomas & Betts, described as a 2 inch capped bushing in malleable iron. That is the single identity of the item, so there is no finish or configuration choice to specify with it.
