ASC Engineered Solutions 318901402 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What standards does this malleable iron cap meet for a submittal package?
Three specs cover it: material to ASTM A-197 (cupola malleable iron), dimensions to ASME B16.3, and threads to ASME B1.20.1. Pressure rating is also per ASME B16.3. Those are the lines an engineer or inspector looks for on a threaded black iron fitting submittal.
2) How much does the 2 inch XH black malleable iron cap weigh?
About 1.94 lbs each. Worth knowing if you are pricing freight on a bulk order or figuring hanger loads on a run with several capped branches.
3) What is the ASC part number for the 2 inch extra heavy black cap?
The manufacturer part number is 318901402 from ASC Engineered Solutions, a 2 inch XH black malleable iron AAR cap. That is the number to quote when matching an existing fitting on a job.
