Viega 25095 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Viega MegaPress 25095 coupling used for on carbon steel pipe?
The Viega 25095 is a 2 inch by 2 inch MegaPress extended coupling in carbon steel, with press ends on both sides (P1 x P2). It joins two lengths of 2 inch carbon steel pipe with a cold press connection instead of welding or threading. Overall length is 5.634 inches, so it spans a wider gap than a standard coupling.
2) Does the Viega 25095 MegaPress coupling have a tube stop?
No. The 25095 is a no-stop coupling, meaning the pipe can slide through past the center. That is what makes it a repair coupling: you can slide it fully onto one pipe end, bring the second pipe into position, then slide it back to center and press both ends. A coupling with a stop cannot do that.
3) Can I use the 25095 MegaPress coupling to repair a cut section of 2 inch pipe without taking the line apart?
That is exactly the case it covers. Because there is no internal stop, the extended coupling slides clear onto one side, so you can drop it over a cut or repaired section already fixed in place, recenter it, and press each end. With a stop coupling you would have to spring the pipe or cut a union in.
4) What pipe material does the Viega 25095 press fitting work with?
Carbon steel. The 25095 body is carbon steel and it is part of the MegaPress line, which presses onto black iron and carbon steel pipe. It is not the fitting to use on copper or stainless lines, which take a different Viega system.
5) What does Smart Connect mean on a Viega MegaPress fitting?
Smart Connect is Viega's unpressed-connection feature. On the 25095 coupling, a connection that has not been pressed will leak during pressure testing, so the installer can find it before the system is put in service. It is a check on missed presses, not a sealing method on its own.
6) How much clearance do I need around the pipe to press the Viega 25095?
The fitting body measures 2.894 inches in both height and width and runs 5.634 inches long, so plan hanger and wall clearance around those figures plus room for the press jaw itself. In tight chases that outer dimension is what usually decides whether you can get the tool square on the fitting.
7) What is the exact part number and weight for ordering the Viega 2 inch extended no-stop coupling?
Order Viega part number 25095. It is the 2 inch by 2 inch MegaPress extended coupling, no stop, carbon steel, and it weighs 1.693 lbs each, which matters when you are figuring hanger loads or a bulk order for a repair kit.
8) Where is the Viega 25095 MegaPress coupling made?
Germany. For specs and submittal packages that call for country of origin on mechanical piping components, the 25095 carbon steel MegaPress coupling lists Made in Germany.
