That is exactly the arrangement the 25505 is built for: full 1-1/4 inch flow straight through the run, with a reduced 3/4 inch female threaded branch for a gauge, drain valve, or a small takeoff. If you want the branch pressed instead of threaded, you need the press-by-press version of the tee rather than this FPT one.

Smart Connect is Viega's unpressed-connection feature: a fitting that has been slipped on but not pressed will leak visibly during pressure testing, so you find the miss at test instead of after the ceiling closes. It does not change how the 25505 is pressed, just how an error shows up.
