Viega 26655 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What connections does the Viega MegaPress 26655 adapter have?
The Viega 26655 MegaPress adapter is a press by female pipe thread fitting (P x FPT) in 2-1/2 inch by 2-1/2 inch. The press end goes onto 2-1/2 inch carbon steel pipe with a MegaPress tool and jaw, and the threaded end takes a 2-1/2 inch male NPT nipple, valve, or component. It is the transition piece when you need to break from press back to thread.
2) Can I press the Viega 26655 onto copper or stainless tube?
No. The 26655 is a carbon steel MegaPress fitting, sized for 2-1/2 inch black iron or carbon steel pipe. Copper tube takes a copper press system and stainless lines take a stainless press fitting. Putting a carbon steel press fitting on copper mixes metals and the pipe OD does not match the fitting anyway.
3) Does this Viega MegaPress fitting tell me if I missed a press?
Yes. The 26655 carries Viega's Smart Connect feature, which leaves an unpressed connection deliberately leaking during pressure testing so an unpressed joint shows itself before the system is closed up. It is a pressure test aid, not a substitute for pressing every joint.
