The 702-SPL is a 52 cubic inch two-gang steel box. Fill capacity is worked out from that 52 in3 against the NEC box-fill rules for the wire size you are running, minus the volume allowances for devices, clamps and grounds. It is one of the larger two-gang masonry-style boxes, so it gives you real room for two devices plus travelers compared to a shallower 4-gang-face box.

It measures 4-9/16 x 6-7/8 x 1-13/16 inches. That 1-13/16 inch depth is what decides whether it works in your wall - it is a shallow box, so it fits where stud depth or masonry coursing is tight, but it is not the box for stacking several devices and large conductors back to back.

There are 17 knockouts, in 1/2 and 3/4 inch trade sizes. That combination means you can land 1/2 inch EMT or flex on most openings and step up to 3/4 inch where a feeder or a larger conduit run comes in, without an adapter.
