Allied Tube & Conduit CK350RKON – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I use this 3-1/2 inch compression coupling in a concrete pour?
It is rated concrete tight, so it can be used where the fitting will be embedded in poured concrete without grout or wet concrete working into the raceway. That is the main reason to choose a compression coupling over a set screw type on a slab or deck pour.
2) Compression coupling or set screw coupling for 3-1/2 inch conduit in a slab?
Use the compression type. The CK350RKON is concrete tight, which is what a slab, deck, or damp indoor location calls for. Set screw couplings are fine for dry, exposed indoor runs but are not concrete tight, so they are the wrong choice anywhere the fitting gets buried in a pour.
3) Will a zinc plated steel coupling hold up in a damp or exposed location?
The coupling is zinc plated to resist corrosion and built with heavy steel walls, so it stands up in damp interior and concrete embedded work. For direct burial or corrosive outdoor exposure, specify a fitting listed for wet or buried use instead.
4) What part number do I order for the Allied 3-1/2 inch compression coupling?
Order Allied Tube & Conduit (Atkore) part number CK350RKON. It is a single model, 3-1/2 inch, so there is no finish or size option to specify on the order.
5) Does the compression coupling come with the compression rings and nuts, or do I buy those separately?
The CK350RKON ships as a complete coupling, both gland nuts and rings included, so the only thing you supply is the conduit. No locknuts or bushings are needed for a coupling since it joins tube to tube rather than terminating into an enclosure.
