Metallics MT18 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Metallics MT18 meant for romex and power cable or just low voltage wiring?
It is a low voltage wire stapler. The MT18 is built for thermostat wire, alarm and security cable, speaker wire, data and coax type runs. For NM power cable you want a cable staple sized for romex instead, not this 3/16 inch low voltage gun.
2) Do staples come with the Metallics MT18 staple gun?
The MT18 is sold as the gun itself, a single model with no staple-pack option. Order 3/16 inch crown low voltage staples separately so you have them on the truck.
3) Will a 3/16 inch low voltage staple gun crush my thermostat or alarm wire?
The 3/16 inch crown on the MT18 is dimensioned to bridge small gauge low voltage conductors rather than pinch them, which is why it is sold as a low voltage wire gun rather than a general construction stapler. Set your depth on a scrap of the same cable before running the job.
4) What is the Metallics part number for the 3/16 low voltage wire staple gun?
Order it as Metallics MT18. That is both the model and the manufacturer part number for the 3/16 inch low voltage wire staple gun.
