1) Can I use the Steel City LT292-1 on regular flexible metal conduit (Greenfield)?
No. It is built for liquidtight flexible metal conduit, which has a PVC jacket over the metal core, and the sealing gland is sized to grip that jacket. Standard FMC without a jacket needs a plain flex connector instead, not a liquidtight one.
2) How does the LT292-1 attach to the enclosure - is it threaded or a snap-in fitting?
Threaded. The male hub on the LT292-1 goes through the knockout and is secured with a locknut on the inside, which is the standard termination for a 3/4 inch knockout. It is not a push-in or snap-in connector.
3) What is the Steel City LT292-1 made of?
Zinc die cast body. That is the common material for liquidtight connectors used on motor whips, rooftop units, and other locations where the fitting sees weather or washdown but is not in a corrosive process environment. If your spec calls for a non-ferrous or stainless body, this is not the one.
4) When would I use a 90 degree liquidtight connector instead of a straight one?
Use the 90 where the conduit has to leave the enclosure and immediately turn - tight against a wall, at the bottom of a disconnect, or coming into an HVAC unit where there is no room to bend the flex. A straight connector plus a field bend needs clearance the 90 does not. The LT292-1 handles that turn at the box on 3/4 inch liquidtight flexible metal conduit.
5) Do I need to order a locknut and sealing ring separately for the LT292-1?
The connector is ordered as one piece per termination under part number LT292-1. What is worth confirming for your job is whether the enclosure needs a sealing washer or gasket on the outside to keep the raintight rating at the box - that is an enclosure requirement, not something the connector body changes.
