Allied Tube & Conduit CCR-75KON – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Allied Tube & Conduit CCR-75KON connector approved for outdoor and wet locations?
Yes. The CCR-75KON is a raintight compression connector, rated for outdoor and wet location use, and the body is zinc plated to resist corrosion in that kind of exposure. That is the difference between it and a standard indoor set screw connector, which should not be used where water can reach the fitting.
2) What size conduit does the CCR-75KON compression connector take?
It is the 3/4 inch size in Allied Tube & Conduit's raintight compression connector line, so it lands on 3/4 inch conduit and into a 3/4 inch knockout in the box or enclosure.
3) Can I use a set screw connector instead of the CCR-75KON on an outdoor run?
No. A set screw connector is for dry indoor locations only. Where the fitting will see rain, sprinklers, or washdown, you need the raintight compression type, which is what the CCR-75KON is. Compression fittings seal on the conduit with a gland and nut rather than a screw that leaves the joint open to water.
4) Why does the CCR-75KON have a blue nut?
The blue compression nut is an identification aid. On a job where both standard and raintight fittings are in the same box of parts, the blue nut lets an electrician or inspector see at a glance that the raintight version was used, without pulling the fitting apart.
