Yes. IC 15WB+ is specifically compatible with CPVC piping, which matters because many caulks attack CPVC and cause stress cracking. It also bonds to gypsum wallboard, concrete, metals, wood, other plastics and cable jacketing, so the same pail of sealant covers metallic pipe, conduit, cable and insulated pipe penetrations on the same floor.

Up to 3 hours in tested and listed systems, per ASTM E 814 (UL 1479) and CAN/ULC S115 for through penetrations. It is also fire resistance tested for static construction joint systems under ASTM E 1966 (UL 2079). The actual rating you get on a given opening is whatever the listed system for that penetrant and assembly allows, up to that 3-hour ceiling.

IC 15WB+ does both jobs. It is a smoke seal as well as a firestop, blocking fire, smoke and noxious gas, and it carries an STC rating of 54 when tested in an STC 54-rated wall assembly. On a rated demising wall in multi-family or hospitality work, that means you are not following behind with a separate acoustic sealant on the same penetration.

No. This is a water-based latex sealant and it is not water tight, so keep it to dry interior conditions: rated walls, floors, floor-ceiling assemblies and interior partitions. For a penetration exposed to standing water or weather you need a different firestop product.

Two package sizes are sold: a 10.1 fl oz cartridge (IC-15WB+-10.1OZ) and a 20 fl oz sausage (IC-15WB+-20oz). The cartridge runs in a standard caulk gun and suits punch-list work and a handful of openings. The sausage needs a sausage-style bulk gun but gives you roughly double the volume per reload, which is the one to carry when you are firestopping a floor of cable and pipe penetrations.

It is a one-part, gun-grade intumescent sealant. Under fire exposure it expands to fill the void left as a combustible penetrant such as CPVC softens and melts back, keeping the seal closed for up to 3 hours. A non-intumescent elastomeric caulk will not do that, which is why intumescent is what gets specified for non-metallic pipe.

Both yes. It is paintable, and it is re-enterable and repairable, so you can pull or add cable through an existing seal and patch it back rather than cutting out the whole penetration. Clean-up while wet is with water. The distinctive yellow color is intentional so an inspector can identify the firestop on sight, which is worth keeping in mind before you paint it out in a finished area.

IC 15WB+ meets the intent of LEED VOC environmental regulations, the International Building Code and other key life safety building code requirements, and it is halogen-free. That combination is why it shows up on hospital, school and government specs where both the firestopping and the indoor air quality criteria have to be satisfied.

Listed applications cover single and bundled cables, cable trays, power and communication cables, metallic and non-metallic pipe including CPVC, insulated pipe, conduit, busways, combos, HVAC ducts and vents, blank openings, and static construction joints in rated wall, floor and floor-ceiling assemblies. Static is the operative word on joints: it is tested for static construction joint systems, not for joints that move.

It is formulated sag-resistant, so it holds in overhead floor penetrations and vertical head-of-wall joints without slumping while it dries, and it has a good caulk rate out of a conventional gun. Once dry it forms a monolithic seal.
