Spears PVC DWV 2-Way Clean-Out, Hub x Hub x Hub

The Spears PVC DWV 2-Way Clean-Out, Hub x Hub x Hub is a 4" drain, waste, and vent fitting engineered for reliable cleanout access in residential and commercial PVC piping systems. Molded from durable PVC for long-term resistance to corrosion, rust, and chemical attack, this clean-out fitting features three hub-style connection points — hub x hub x hub — for secure, solvent-welded joints on every port. Designed to integrate seamlessly into standard Schedule 40 DWV piping runs, it gives plumbers and facility maintenance crews a dependable access point for clearing blockages without disturbing the surrounding line. Each unit ships 5 ea per package, making it easy to stock multiple fittings for larger jobs or ongoing maintenance work.

Key Features

  • Trade Size: 4" connection size sized for standard DWV piping runs.
  • Durable Construction: Rigid PVC material resists corrosion, rust, and chemical degradation in drain, waste, and vent applications.
  • 2-Way Clean-Out Design: Provides two points of access for clearing blockages and performing routine line maintenance.
  • Hub x Hub x Hub Connections: Three hub-style ends allow solvent welding directly to standard PVC DWV pipe on all three ports, with no threading required.
  • Lightweight, Job-Ready Fitting: PVC construction keeps the fitting lightweight for easier handling and faster installation compared to metal alternatives.
  • Consistent Fit and Finish: Precision-molded hub openings help ensure a tight, leak-resistant solvent-weld joint every time.

Spears P448-030 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What sizes does the Spears P448 PVC DWV 2-way clean-out come in?
The Spears P448 two-way clean-out is offered in 3 inch and 4 inch trade sizes, ordered as P448-030 and P448-040. Both are all-hub fittings, so the size you pick has to match the DWV pipe size on the run you are tapping into.
2) Do I need to thread this Spears clean-out, or is it solvent welded?
All three ports are hub ends, so every connection is solvent welded to PVC DWV pipe with primer and cement. There is no threading on the fitting itself. If you want a removable threaded clean-out plug at the access point, you will need a separate threaded adapter and plug in the same pipe size.
3) Will this Spears clean-out work with Schedule 40 DWV PVC pipe?
Yes. The P448 is built to drop into standard Schedule 40 PVC DWV piping runs, with hub sockets sized to accept 3 inch or 4 inch DWV pipe depending on which one you order. It is a drain, waste and vent fitting, not a pressure fitting, so keep it out of supply lines.
4) What is the difference between a 2-way clean-out and a regular clean-out tee?
A two-way clean-out gives you access in both directions on the line, so a single fitting lets you rod upstream toward the fixtures or downstream toward the sewer without cutting in a second access point. A standard clean-out tee with a single plug only lets you snake one direction. That is why two-way fittings get used at the building drain and at base-of-stack locations where you may need to clear either side.
5) Is this clean-out OK for a commercial building or just residential plumbing?
Both. The P448 is used in residential and commercial drain, waste and vent systems, and it is a common pick for facility maintenance crews who want a permanent rodding point in a PVC run. The PVC body resists corrosion, rust and chemical attack, which is why it holds up in waste lines better than a metal fitting.
