The Spears Schedule 40 reducing coupling is offered in four size combinations: 1-1/4 x 1 inch (429-168), 1-1/2 x 1-1/4 inch (429-212), 2 x 1-1/2 inch (429-251), and 4 x 2 inch (429-420). Each is a one-step reducer, so if you need to drop from 2 inch to 1 inch you will need two fittings or a bushing arrangement rather than a single coupling.
2) Do these Spears reducing couplings glue on, or are they threaded?
Both ends are socket (SOC), so they solvent weld onto the outside of the pipe. You will need PVC primer and solvent cement rated for the pipe size, neither of which ships with the fitting. There are no threads on either end, so if the run you are tying into is threaded you need a male or female adapter at that point.
3) Will a Schedule 40 socket coupling fit Schedule 80 PVC pipe?
