1) Will a 6-32 socket head cap screw thread into a 6-32 tapped hole or standard 6-32 nut?
Yes. The JSHC612 is a 6-32 UN thread at 32 threads per inch, which is the standard 6-32 UNC coarse thread used on tapped device boxes, panel hardware, and 6-32 machine screw nuts. Thread length to work with is 1/2 inch overall screw length.
2) What counterbore do I need so the head sits flush in the panel?
Size the counterbore off the head dimensions: the head measures 0.218 to 0.226 inch across and 0.134 to 0.138 inch high. A counterbore slightly over 0.226 inch diameter and at least 0.138 inch deep will take the head below the surface. Because the screw is wrenched internally through the socket rather than across the flats, it needs less surrounding clearance than a hex head cap screw of the same size.
