Yes. The SDS1B is a self-drilling and tapping screw with a drill point, so it cuts its own hole through light gauge steel framing. That is what the fine 18 threads per inch and the drill point are for. Hardened to Rockwell C44. No pilot hole needed on steel, wood, drywall or aluminum work.
2) Is a #6 x 1 inch drywall screw long enough for 1/2 in. drywall on steel studs?
