Metallics CT6B – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Metallics CT6B cable tie and what length is it?
The CT6B is a 7 inch nylon cable tie in white, made in the USA. It's a standard electrical bundling tie for harnessing wire runs, conduit groups, and low voltage cable. Order it by part number CT6B.
2) Are the Metallics CT6B ties white or black, and does the color matter for outdoor use?
The CT6B is the white nylon version. White and natural nylon ties are intended for indoor or protected use; for sunlight exposure electricians normally specify a UV rated black tie instead, so for an exterior run pick a black UV stabilized tie rather than the CT6B.
3) Do contractors on Buy American or domestic-preference jobs qualify with the Metallics CT6B?
The CT6B is identified as USA made nylon, which is what a government or institutional spec with a domestic content preference is looking for on consumable electrical supplies. The part number to cite on the submittal is Metallics CT6B.
4) Is the Metallics CT6B a one-time-use tie or can it be released and reused?
Standard nylon ties such as the CT6B use a one way pawl in the head, so they're single use and get cut off to remove. If you need to open and re-dress a bundle repeatedly, specify a releasable or hook and loop strap instead.
