P x FTG is the reason this one is called a street elbow. No flame, no solder, no flux. The 77637 is a press fitting: clean and mark the tube, seat the press end, and crimp with a ProPress jaw. That is the main reason contractors use these on occupied buildings, ceiling spaces and anywhere a hot work permit is a problem. You do need the press tool and the correct 1/2 inch jaw, which are not part of the fitting.

When the system is pressurized for testing, any connection that was missed leaks visibly at the joint, so the installer finds it during test rather than after the ceiling is closed.
