4) Do I still need a press tool if the fitting has a threaded end?
Yes on the press side. The socket end has to be crimped with a ProPress jaw or ring in the 3/4 inch size, on properly cut and deburred copper tube that is inserted to full depth. Only the FPT end is made up with thread sealant or tape and a wrench.
