Viega 79380 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I use the Viega 79380 adapter on potable drinking water lines?
Yes. The 79380 adapter is zero lead bronze, which is the material Viega uses for its potable water press fittings. It is a bronze body in 1/2 inch FTG x 1/2 inch MPT.
2) How much space does the Viega 79380 take up in a tight wall cavity?
The 79380 is a small bronze adapter: 2.917 inches, 2.185 inches, and 3.299 inches on its three published dimensions, and it weighs 0.103 lbs. Allow clearance around the FTG end for the press jaw to close fully, which is usually the limiting factor rather than the fitting itself.
3) I am stocking Viega press fittings for a multifamily job. What exactly is part number 79380?
Viega 79380 is the zero lead bronze ProPress adapter, 1/2 inch FTG x 1/2 inch MPT, one model with no finish or size options to specify. Order it by the number 79380.
4) Where is the Viega 79380 ProPress adapter manufactured?
Germany. Viega produces the 79380 zero lead bronze adapter there, which matters on jobs where country of origin gets recorded in the submittal package.
