The Metallics TSF24M is a Type A tapping screw with a gimlet point, meaning it has a sharp pointed tip and a coarse 15 threads per inch. That coarse-thread, pointed combination is what Type A is built for: thin sheet metal, and it also drives readily into wood and other soft materials. If you are fastening into thicker steel sheet or need a blunt-point thread-cutting screw, Type A is the wrong choice.
