The MegaPress 84300 is a P x FPT adapter: one end is a 2 inch press connection that goes on 2 inch black iron or carbon steel pipe, the other is a 2 inch female NPT thread. Use it where you need to transition from pressed carbon steel pipe to a male-threaded component such as a valve nipple, gauge, or threaded riser.

The 84300 is carbon steel, the same base material as the black iron pipe it presses onto, so it behaves like that pipe: fine for closed-loop and dry service, but it will corrode in wet or outdoor exposure unless the run is coated or insulated. For potable water or corrosive service, use a stainless or copper press system instead of carbon steel.

The fitting body itself measures 3.441 inches long, 2.992 inches wide and 2.894 inches high, and weighs 1.358 lbs. Add room on top of that for the press jaw or ring plus the actuator to swing around the pipe, since the tool, not the fitting, usually sets the minimum clearance in a chase or against a wall.

Smart Connect is the feature Viega builds into the sealing element so an unpressed connection leaks visibly during pressure testing instead of passing. On a 2 inch carbon steel line that matters on a large job: you find the missed joint at test, not after the ceiling is closed. It does not change how the fitting is pressed, only how an unpressed joint shows itself.
