Viega 90180 MegaPress tee Smart Connect technology 316 stainless steel, 3/4'' x 3/4'' x 1/2''

The 90180 is a reducing tee with two press ends and one threaded branch: 3/4 inch press x 3/4 inch press x 1/2 inch female pipe thread. So the run presses onto 3/4 inch pipe at both ends and the 1/2 inch branch takes a male-threaded nipple, valve, or gauge adapter.

MegaPress press ends are sized for standard IPS black iron and carbon steel pipe as well as stainless, so the 3/4 inch press ends on the 90180 go onto 3/4 inch Schedule pipe. The fitting body itself is 316 stainless steel, which is the grade you pick when the line or the environment would attack a carbon steel fitting.

That is exactly what it does. The 3/4 inch run presses in without cutting threads or hot work, and the 1/2 inch female threaded branch takes a gauge, sensor, drain valve, or a nipple down to a smaller drop. If you want the branch to be press rather than threaded, you need the 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/2 all-press MegaPress tee instead.

Smart Connect is a deliberate leak path built into the sealing element so an unpressed joint weeps during pressure testing instead of passing inspection and failing later. On the 90180 that applies to both 3/4 inch press ends. The 1/2 inch FPT branch is a conventional threaded joint, so it still needs thread sealant or PTFE tape and a wrench.

316 stainless resists chloride and corrosive attack far better than carbon steel, which is why it gets specified on compressed air with moisture, chemical and process lines, wash-down areas, food and beverage plants, and coastal or marine mechanical rooms. The 90180 is 316 throughout the body. On ordinary black iron gas or hydronic work the carbon steel MegaPress tee is the normal choice.
