American Standard M922883-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What flow rate does the American Standard M922883 aerator deliver?
It's a 1.5 gpm aerator, so it caps the faucet outlet at 1.5 gallons per minute. That's the common water-saving lavatory flow rate, a step down from the 2.2 gpm aerators that ship on a lot of older faucets. If you're swapping a 2.2 gpm unit for this one, expect a noticeably softer stream and a slower fill on a basin.
2) I manage apartments and need to drop every bathroom faucet to a low-flow aerator. Is this the right part to standardize on?
For American Standard lavatory faucets, yes, this is the kind of part that does it. The M922883 is a 1.5 gpm faucet aerator in chrome, so a single part number covers the whole fleet where the faucets are American Standard and the trim is chrome. Before you order in volume, pull one existing aerator and confirm it matches the thread type on the spouts you're servicing, since aerator threads differ between faucet models.
3) Is the M922883 aerator for a faucet or a showerhead?
Faucet only. The M922883 is a faucet aerator, the screen-and-housing insert that threads into the spout outlet. It is not a shower flow restrictor and won't fit a shower arm.
4) What finish does the American Standard 1.5 gpm aerator come in, and will it match my faucet?
Chrome is the finish offered, part number M922883-0020A. On a polished chrome faucet it blends in. On brushed nickel, matte black, or bronze trim the aerator face will read as a bright chrome ring at the spout tip, so if the outlet is visible you'll want a matching-finish aerator instead.
