American Standard 013275-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is American Standard part 013275-0020A, and what does it do on a tub/shower valve?
It's the escutcheon plate for an American Standard Cadet wall mount bath/shower faucet, ordered as AMS-13275 with manufacturer number 013275-0020A. The escutcheon is the decorative wall plate that covers the valve hole and the gap around the trim, it is not the valve, the cartridge, or the handle. If the valve body behind the wall is working and only the wall plate is pitted, cracked, or missing, this is the replacement piece.
2) Will this escutcheon fit any brand of tub and shower valve, or only American Standard?
Treat it as an American Standard Cadet part. It is a repair part made for the Cadet wall mount bath/shower faucet, and escutcheons are matched to the specific valve trim they cover, not interchangeable across brands. Pulling a Moen, Delta, or Kohler plate and putting this on will leave you with mismatched screw locations and hole coverage.
3) Does ordering this part get me the handle and valve cartridge too?
No. AMS-13275 is the escutcheon plate alone. Handles, the cartridge or stems, the spout, and any mounting screws beyond what the plate ships with are separate American Standard repair parts. If your Cadet valve is leaking as well as looking rough, order the cartridge or stem repair parts alongside this plate so you only open the wall once.
4) Does the Cadet escutcheon plate come in anything other than chrome?
Chrome only. The Cadet bath/shower escutcheon ships in a chrome finish under part 013275-0020A, so if the other trim in the bathroom is brushed nickel or bronze it will not match and you'd want a plate in that finish instead.
5) How big is the American Standard 13275 escutcheon plate?
The spec data lists it at 12.913 x 7.5 x 1 inches with a weight of 0.095 lb, so it is a tall oblong wall plate rather than a small round flange. Measure the plate you are pulling off before you order, a round single-handle escutcheon of a few inches across is a different part entirely.
6) Is this American Standard escutcheon plate suitable for apartment and hotel bathroom repairs, or is it residential only?
It's catalogued as a repair part rather than a residential-only or commercial-only line, and chrome Cadet bath/shower trim is common across multi-family and hospitality bathrooms. For a property manager standardizing on Cadet valves, one part number, 013275-0020A, covers the wall plate on every one of those openings. It is made in the United States.
