A 36-inch cabinet is what the Colony 22DB.6332284S needs. The sink itself is 33 x 22 inches at the deck, so a 36-inch base gives the room required for the cutout plus the rim bearing surface. Anything narrower than 36 inches will not take it, and you would need to drop to a smaller bowl configuration. A cutout template comes in the box, so you are not scaling the opening off a drawing.

Top mount, also called drop-in. The rim sits on the countertop and carries the sink, so it works on laminate, solid surface, or stone without needing clips and rail support underneath. That is the practical reason to pick it on a turnover or a remodel where you are not replacing the counter. If the counter is already cut for an undermount, this is the wrong sink.
