American Standard 7077380.243 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the American Standard Colony PRO touchless kitchen faucet work on a 3-hole sink deck?
Yes. The Colony PRO touchless pull-down mounts on single-hole, 2-hole or 3-hole sinks and countertops, and the deck plate needed to cover the extra holes comes with the faucet. No separate escutcheon to order.
2) What powers the touchless sensor, and does it need an outlet under the sink?
It runs on 4 AA batteries, which are included, so no outlet is required under the cabinet. There is a built-in low battery reminder. An AC adapter is an option if you would rather hardwire it to power, but it is sold separately.
3) Can the hands-free sensor be turned off for cleaning or if it false-triggers?
Yes, the infrared sensor can be disabled. Normal operation is a hand wave within about 2 inches of the sensor to start and stop flow, and with the sensor off you wipe the faucet down or use the handle without setting it off.
4) What is the flow rate on the Colony PRO touchless pull-down faucet?
1.5 gpm (5.7 L/min). That is below the 2.2 gpm federal maximum for kitchen faucets and meets the 1.8 gpm ceiling used in water-conserving jurisdictions like California and Colorado, which matters if you are speccing for a multi-family or institutional project with a water-use requirement.
5) Does the faucet shut itself off if someone walks away with the water running?
It does. Automatic shut-off kills the flow after 4 minutes, which is the feature property managers and facility buyers care about in shared or tenant kitchens where an unattended faucet means an overflow claim.
6) What finishes does the American Standard Colony PRO touchless faucet come in?
Three: polished chrome (7077380.002), stainless steel (7077380.075) and matte black (7077380.243). If you are standardizing units across a building, order by that suffix, it is the only thing that changes between the three.
7) Will the handle hit the backsplash when the faucet is installed tight to the wall?
No. The single lever rotates forward rather than back, so it clears the backsplash on a shallow-deck sink. The spout is a high-arc swivel design, which gives you room to fill stock pots and swing across a double bowl.
8) Does the spray head retract properly, or will it hang low over time?
The pull-down head uses American Standard's Re-Trax system for extension, retraction and docking, so the hose pulls back and the head seats itself rather than sagging out of the spout. It is a dual spray head, stream and spray.
9) What kind of valve is in this faucet, and is it going to drip?
Ceramic disc cartridge, which is the standard for drip-free service in a single-handle kitchen faucet. Ceramic discs are also what makes a faucet repairable years later rather than a replacement, worth knowing if you are putting these across a portfolio of units.
