American Standard Colony/Evolution 2 1.6 gpf/6.0 Lpf 12-Inch Rough Tank - AMS-4061016

Two china colors: Bone, part number 4061016.021, and Linen, part number 4061016.222. On a tank replacement the color has to match the bowl already on the floor, and American Standard Bone and Linen are distinct shades, so pull the suffix off the bowl before ordering. A bowl marked .021 takes the Bone tank; a .222 bowl takes Linen.

12 inches (305 mm) from the finished wall to the closet bolt centerline. That rough-in is set by the bowl, not the tank, so what this really tells you is that the 4061016 is the tank built for the 12-inch rough version of the Colony/Evolution 2. On a 10-inch or 14-inch rough bowl you need the tank matched to that bowl instead.

That is the normal use for it. If the bowl is sound and the tank is cracked or the lid is gone, the 4061016 puts the fixture back in service without pulling the closet flange or resetting the wax ring. Match three things to the existing bowl: 12-inch rough Colony or Evolution 2, 1.6 gpf, and the china color. Miss the color and you get a working toilet that looks wrong in a unit turn.

1.6 gallons per flush, 6.0 litres. That is the standard water-closet volume for commercial and multi-family work, so swapping this tank onto an existing 1.6 gpf Colony bowl keeps the fixture at the same rated consumption it was installed with.

A two-inch flush valve. The larger 2-inch opening dumps the tank faster than a 1.6-inch valve, which matters on bulk-waste openings in apartments and public restrooms. It also decides your repair parts: flappers and seals for this tank are 2-inch, not the common 1.6-inch size.

Vitreous china, the same glazed body as the bowl it mounts to. For a property manager that means it cleans and wears like the original fixture, and it means it handles like china on the install: support it at the base, do not overtighten the tank-to-bowl bolts, and snug the supply nut by hand before wrenching.
