American Standard 751977-0070A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the American Standard 751977-0070A ell washer used for?
It is the drain ell washer for the American Standard 1545 drain, a sealing washer that goes at the ell connection on a sink drain assembly. It is a service part, not a complete drain, so you order it when the original washer has hardened, split, or is weeping at that joint.
2) Will this washer fit drains other than the American Standard 1545?
It is specified for the 1545 drain only. If your drain carries a different American Standard model number, match the washer to that model rather than assuming this one seals the same joint. Guessing on a sealing washer usually means a slow leak under the cabinet.
3) Is the American Standard drain ell washer sold as a single piece or a kit?
It is ordered as the individual washer under part number 751977-0070A. It is the fastener/sealing component by itself, with no ell, nut, or tailpiece included, so if those parts are also worn you will need to source them separately.
4) For a property with several American Standard 1545 sink drains, is this the right repair part to keep on hand?
Yes, if the leaks you are chasing are at the drain ell joint. The 751977-0070A is the washer American Standard specifies for the 1545 drain, so stocking a few lets a maintenance tech reseal that connection without pulling and replacing the whole drain body.
5) Does the 751977-0070A ell washer come in different finishes?
No finish options apply. It ships unfinished because it is a concealed sealing part inside the drain connection, not a visible trim piece, so there is nothing to match to your faucet or sink finish.
