American Standard 1660142.243 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the American Standard Delancey hand shower meet low-flow water restrictions like California's 1.8 gpm maximum?
The Delancey single function hand shower flows 1.8 gpm (6.8 L/min), which matches the 1.8 gpm ceiling used by the strictest state showerhead rules. That makes it usable on projects where a 2.5 gpm or 2.0 gpm head would be rejected, and it is the same flow across all four finishes.
2) Is the Delancey hand shower rated for commercial use in a hotel or apartment building?
American Standard classifies the Delancey 1660142 as a residential fixture. For single-family, condo, and apartment unit work that is a normal fit. For heavy-traffic commercial washrooms, locker rooms, or institutional showers, specify a product the manufacturer lists for commercial duty instead.
3) What spray patterns does the Delancey hand shower have?
One only. It is a single function head with a full spray pattern, so there is no mode selector or diverter collar to cycle through. If a resident expects massage or mist settings, this is not the head for that bathroom. For a hotel or multi-family rehab, single function is usually the point: nothing to break and nothing for a guest to misadjust.
4) Will this hand shower match other American Standard Delancey fixtures in the bathroom?
It is part of the Delancey family, so it is finished to coordinate with other Delancey trim. The practical check is the finish suffix: a Delancey tub and shower trim in Brushed Nickel takes the .295 hand shower, Matte Black takes .243, Chrome takes .002, and Brushed Cool Sunrise takes .GN0.
5) How big is the Delancey hand shower, and will it fit a standard slide bar or wall cradle?
The head and handle together measure 9.75 long, 4.526 wide, and 2.875 inches high, and it weighs 0.463 lb. That is a conventional wand size and weight, so a standard hand shower cradle or slide bar carriage will hold it without sagging. Check the cradle's grip diameter if you are reusing an older bracket.
6) Do I get a hose and wall bracket with the Delancey 1660142 hand shower?
The 1660142 is the hand shower wand itself, sold by finish. Confirm what your opening already has before ordering: if you are replacing only a worn or scaled wand on an existing hose, this is the part. If you are building a new hand shower outlet, you will also need a hose and either a cradle, slide bar, or diverter outlet in a matching finish.
7) How do you clean hard water scale off this hand shower?
The spray nozzles on the Delancey hand shower are the easy-clean type, so lime and calcium deposits rub off the face by hand without soaking or disassembling the head. That is the maintenance item that matters most on hard-water properties, where clogged nozzles are the usual reason a wand gets replaced.
8) Where is the American Standard Delancey hand shower made?
Country of origin is Mexico. That is the detail institutional and government buyers ask about for domestic-preference procurement, so flag it early if your project carries a sourcing requirement.
