Trim only. The Edgemere TU018501 kit covers the finished side of the wall: the metal lever handle, wall escutcheon, shower arm and flange, and a 5-3/4 inch (147 mm) showerhead. The rough-in valve is a separate purchase, and this trim is built for use with American Standard Flash shower rough-in valves. If the wall is already open, order the rough-in at the same time or the job stops after demo.

It is specified for American Standard Flash shower rough-in valves. If the body in your wall is a Flash rough-in, the trim goes on it. If it is another brand or an older non-Flash American Standard body, don't assume it lands, identify the rough-in first.

A double ceramic pressure balance cartridge (ceramic disc mixing valve plus a ceramic balancing spool in one piece) holds outlet temperature steady when hot or cold supply pressure shifts, so a flushed toilet elsewhere in the building doesn't spike the shower. It also has an adjustable hot limit safety stop that caps how much hot water can mix in, which is how you dial down scald risk in guest and resident units.

The included showerhead is rated 2.5 gpm / 9.5 L/min maximum. That is the standard federal maximum, so it will not satisfy a project or jurisdiction calling for 2.0 gpm or 1.8 gpm. On a green-build or California-type spec, buy the trim and swap in a lower-flow head on the 1/2 inch NPT shower arm.

The application is shower and tub, but the kit ships only with the showerhead, arm, flange, escutcheon and lever handle. There is no tub spout or diverter in the box, so for a tub/shower you supply the spout and use a rough-in valve with a diverter outlet.
