Both come together. The Edgemere 445400 is a top and leg combination, so you get the lavatory basin plus the pedestal in white as one order, along with the mounting kit. You don't need a separate pedestal part number.

It's drilled for a 4 inch centerset faucet, meaning the outer holes are on 4 inch (102 mm) centers. That takes a standard three-hole centerset with the spout and handles on a single base plate. A widespread faucet on 8 inch centers will not fit, and a single-hole vessel faucet will leave two holes exposed.

A mounting kit ships with the Edgemere top and leg combination, so the basic fasteners for securing the basin are included. What is not in the box is the faucet, the pop-up drain assembly, the P-trap, and the supply lines, plus solid backing in the wall. On stud framing, add blocking behind the drywall before setting the sink; the pedestal carries some load but the basin still anchors to the wall.

The bowl measures 17-1/8 inches (435 mm) wide, 12 inches (305 mm) front to back, and 5-1/4 inches (133 mm) deep. That 5-1/4 inch depth is a shallow basin, so it washes hands well but is not a good choice where someone needs to fill a bucket. Around the bowl there is a faucet, soap and accessory ledge with a usable shelf area, which is what most small powder rooms lose when they go to a pedestal.

American Standard builds this one to their Right Height dimension, which sets the rim higher than a standard pedestal for easier use while standing. That is a comfort feature, not a compliance statement, so if you are working to a specific code-mandated rim height or knee clearance for your facility, verify the installed height against your drawing rather than relying on the Right Height designation alone.

The Edgemere basin uses a rear overflow, so the overflow channel runs at the back of the bowl toward the drain outlet. Plan on a standard lavatory pop-up drain with overflow ports. Because the pedestal column hides the trap, keep the P-trap and stops tight to the wall so the leg seats flush.

A pedestal makes sense in a small powder room or a tight guest bath where you want the trap and supplies concealed without losing floor space to a cabinet. You give up storage, so it is a poor fit for a primary bath or a unit turn where tenants want a cabinet. Choose a wall-hung lavatory instead if you need open floor beneath for clearance or easier mopping, and a vanity if storage matters. The Edgemere's ledge and shelf area around the bowl recover some of the counter space a pedestal normally costs you.

Fine fireclay, which is a denser, higher-fired body than standard vitreous china. The glazed surface cleans with ordinary bathroom cleaners and resists staining, which is why fireclay gets specified in multi-family and hospitality baths where a sink sees heavy traffic. It is a hard, brittle material, so handle it carefully during install and protect the rim from dropped tools.
