American Standard M970060-0130A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the American Standard M970060 escutcheon and seal, and is the lock or valve included?
It is a faucet trim part only: the escutcheon (the decorative cover plate) plus its seal. No valve, cartridge, or faucet body comes with it. Buy it when the plate or the gasket behind it is damaged, corroded, or you are changing finishes and the working parts of the faucet are fine.
2) Which finishes does the American Standard M970060 escutcheon come in, and what is the part number for each?
Four finishes, each its own American Standard part number: chrome is M970060-0020A, polished nickel is M970060-0130A, legacy bronze is M970060-2780A, and brushed nickel is M970060-2950A. Order by the suffix that matches the faucet already on the fixture, since the escutcheon sits right against the trim and a mismatched plating shows immediately.
3) I manage apartments and need to fix a leak weeping around the base of an American Standard faucet. Is the M970060 the right part?
If the water is coming from under the trim plate where it meets the deck or wall, the seal in this kit is what does that sealing, so replacing the escutcheon and seal is the right move. If the drip is from the spout or handle, the problem is the cartridge or stem seals instead and this plate will not fix it.
4) Will the M970060 escutcheon fit any American Standard faucet?
Treat it as model specific. American Standard escutcheons are cut to the hole pattern and spread of a particular faucet family, so confirm the M970060 part is called out in the parts breakdown for your faucet model before ordering. Matching the finish alone is not enough.
5) I am standardizing bathroom finishes across a building. Can I get this trim plate in something other than chrome?
Yes. Beyond chrome, the same plate is available in brushed nickel, polished nickel, and legacy bronze, so you can match warm and cool finish schemes across units without changing faucet models. Keep the finish suffix on your parts list so maintenance pulls the correct one later.
6) Can I order just the seal without the escutcheon plate for the M970060?
No. M970060 is supplied as a matched escutcheon and seal set, and it is ordered by finish, not split into the plate and the gasket. Because it ships as a pair, you get a fresh seal whenever you replace the plate.
