American Standard M916586-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the American Standard T005730 handle base, and is the handle included?
The T005730 is the handle base only, a faucet repair part. It's the decorative base that sits between the faucet body and the handle, not the complete handle assembly and not the valve or cartridge underneath. If your handle itself is cracked or the stem broken, you need those parts separately.
2) I manage apartments and have a whole building of American Standard faucets. How do I know this handle base is the right one?
Go by the faucet's part number, not by looks. The T005730 base is a model-specific American Standard trim part, and bases across different faucet series share a similar shape while differing in diameter and internal thread. Pull the existing base off one faucet and confirm the faucet's model or the printed part number before you order for the fleet.
3) Can I use the T005730 handle base on a shower or tub valve?
No. It's specified as a faucet part, so it belongs on a sink or lavatory faucet, not on a tub and shower valve trim. Shower valves use their own escutcheon and handle adapter set.
