American Standard M970157-0020A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the American Standard M970157 handle kit fit?
It's a toilet trip lever handle kit from American Standard. Application is toilet tank flushing hardware, so it replaces the external handle assembly on a tank, not a faucet or shower handle.
2) What finishes does the American Standard M970157 toilet handle kit come in, and which part number is which?
Two finishes. Chrome is M970157-0020A and brushed nickel is M970157-2950A. Order by the full suffix, since the base number M970157 alone doesn't specify finish.
3) I manage apartments and need to match the trip levers already on my American Standard toilets. Which one should I order?
Match the finish on the existing lever: chrome tanks take M970157-0020A, brushed nickel take M970157-2950A. Everything else about the kit is the same between the two, so finish is the only decision on this handle kit.
4) Is the M970157 a complete handle assembly or just the lever arm?
It ships as a handle kit, meaning the trip lever assembly rather than a single loose lever arm. It does not include the flapper, flush valve, or fill valve, so if the tank is leaking as well as the handle being broken, order those separately.
