It covers the unused holes left over when a widespread or 3-hole kitchen faucet comes out and a single-handle faucet goes in, so you do not have to change the sink or the countertop. American Standard states it accommodates virtually all single-hole faucets, so the faucet body passes through the center and the plate hides the outer holes. Standard 3-hole kitchen sink drillings are on 4 inch or 8 inch centers, and the plate measures 10.236 by 6.614 by 4.882 inches, so it spans well past an 8 inch spread.

Five finishes, each with its own part number: chrome (1660152.002), polished nickel (1660152.013), stainless steel (1660152.075), matte black (1660152.243), and brushed cool sunrise (1660152.GN0). The finish suffix after the dot is what you order on. American Standard uses the same suffix convention across its kitchen line, so a faucet ending in .002 pairs with the .002 plate. If you are standardizing a run of units, order the plates by the same suffix as the faucets and the sheen will match.

Same part, different word. The 1660152 is an escutcheon style deck plate: a trim plate that sits on the sink deck under the faucet body and hides the drillings around it. It is trim only, not a mounting bracket and not a faucet base assembly. American Standard states the plate accommodates virtually all single-hole faucets, so a single-hole body from another maker will normally pass through it. What does not carry over is the finish. Chrome to chrome is usually a safe visual match; polished nickel, matte black, stainless and brushed cool sunrise are American Standard's own finish recipes and will not necessarily read the same as another brand's version of the same name. American Standard classes the 1660152 as a residential part, in its Barton family. For apartments, condos and single-family turns it is the right piece. For a high-abuse setting like a school restroom, a shop sink or a public-access kitchen, spec a commercial-rated trim instead, because a residential escutcheon is not built for that duty cycle.
