American Standard 7381735-200.2430A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does left-hand mean on a toilet trip lever, and how do I know I need it?
Left-hand means the lever mounts on the left side of the tank as you face the toilet. Stand in front of the bowl and look at where the existing handle sits. If it's on the left, the 7381735-200 is the one you want. Handing is not adjustable on this part, so a right-hand opening needs the right-hand version instead.
2) What finishes does the American Standard Townsend VorMax left-hand trip lever come in?
Six: Chrome, Polished Nickel, Brushed Nickel, Matte Black, Legacy Bronze, and Brushed Cool Sunrise. Finish is a separate suffix on the part number, so specify it when you order. Chrome is 7381735-200.0020A, Brushed Nickel is 7381735-200.2950A, Matte Black is 7381735-200.2430A.
3) Is this trip lever metal or plastic? I keep replacing broken handles in my rental units.
Metal. The handle is die cast zinc and the arm is brass, so there is no plastic in the load path where cheap replacement levers usually snap. For a property manager cycling handles on high-traffic units, that is the difference worth paying for.
4) Can I use a generic universal toilet handle instead of the American Standard VorMax trip lever?
Not reliably. VorMax flush units use a specific arm shape and travel, and this kit is built for the One-Piece Townsend VorMax. A universal lever may thread into the tank but miss the engagement the VorMax mechanism needs. Order the matched 7381735-200 kit for that toilet.
5) I'm standardizing bathroom finishes across a building. Can I match this trip lever to my faucets?
The Townsend VorMax left-hand lever is offered in Chrome, Polished Nickel, Brushed Nickel, Matte Black, Legacy Bronze, and Brushed Cool Sunrise, which lines up with the common American Standard trim finishes. Order all your units on the same finish suffix and the handles will match across openings.
